Creating Space for Optimal Health
A Message from Marianne
I am pleased to offer my skills and knowledge as a Board Certified and Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist to the community in and around Norman and the greater OKC area.
When you come to me for Acupuncture and or Herbs I will work with you one-on-one to uncover the root cause of the issues and concerns you are experiencing in your body. Together we will create a treatment plan that will address and resolve those issues through the use of Acupuncture, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Herbal Medicine and lifestyle recommendations.
The beauty of working with you in this way is that it allows me to take the time to fully understand what you are experiencing in your body. With a holistic approach to healing there is time and space to explore, uncover and address what is helping or hindering your body’s ability to heal and get better.
As an acupuncturist and herbalist it is quite simply this process of talking and exploring that I love. It gives me great joy and satisfaction to be able to find answers and solutions for a client’s health concerns through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It gives me greater pleasure still to help facilitate and guide the body back into well-being, providing relief from chronic or acute health concerns and creating a better quality of life.
Marianne lives in Norman, Oklahoma with her husband Nick, their two daughters, as well as Kaya the dog and Rocky the cat. When Marianne has spare time she enjoys hanging out with her family, walking and hiking with Kaya, reading and cooking. She also enjoys making herbal lotions, body care products, herbal teas and tinctures in her herbal apothecary.
Frequently Asked Questions

Acupuncturists are regulated and licensed by the National Certification for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), as well as by the state where the Acupuncturist has their practice. When practiced by a well-trained professional, Acupuncture is a very safe and effective method of healing. To eliminate the risk of infection, Essential Acupuncture only uses sterile single-use needles and follows best practices in regards to safe needle disposal.
Acupuncturists are required by NCCAOM to continue their education and stay up to date with best practices and licensure.

Acupuncture needles are significantly finer than hypodermic needles that are used in vaccinations and flu shots. The needles Acupuncturists use are about the diameter of a human hair, and they are both solid and very flexible. Most clients experience little to no discomfort on insertion. Sensations commonly felt are tingling, warmth, heaviness, or tightness around the area where the needle is inserted. Most people find Acupuncture treatments relaxing and many fall asleep during treatment.
-
Acupuncture needles are individually wrapped, tiny flexible sterile and solid needles not much thicker than the diameter of a few hairs. Usually they can not be felt upon insertion although occasionally it might feel like a mosquito bite. Most people don’t realize they have a needle in them. In fact, most clients fall asleep during their treatment.
-
Each client is different, but generally an acute condition often responds more quickly and may require 2-4 sessions to resolve. If it is a chronic condition it may take 8 - 12 sessions before the issue is resolved. Even if a health concern is not completely resolved most people will experience some relief within 1-2 visits.
-
A Board Certified Acupuncturist is required to complete 4-6 years of graduate level training at an accredited nationally certified school. The NCCAOM and most states require a certain amount of professional development credits or continuing education credits in order to renew the acupuncture license and board certification diplomate status. Oklahoma currently has no licensure requirements for Acupuncture.
